The Great Provider

Abraham called that place Jehovah-jireh, meaning “God saw,” and people are still saying, “On the Lord’s mountain, God sees and provides.” — Genesis 22:14 The Discussion Bible

Way up on a mountain, all rocky and wide,
Abraham walked with his son by his side.
The sun was hot. The climb very steep.
But Abraham trusted God’s promise s keep.

Isaac carried wood. Abraham carried the fire.
They climbed onward, higher and higher.
Isaac looked up with a question to share,
“We have wood and fire, but the lamb is where?”

Abraham smiled, though his heart gave a thump.
His feet kept climbing while his heart gave a jump.
“My son, do not worry. God sees from above.
He’s our provider, the great giver of love.”

“God sees and provides.” Oh yes, it is true.
In every situation, he knows about you.
When you’re not satisfied, when something isn’t there.
God sees and understands. He’s already aware.

Upward they went to the very top.
Abraham’s steps? They just didn’t stop.
When things looked the worst, oh, what a surprise.
God opened the heavens and cleared his eyes.

There caught in the thicket, a ram in this place.
God sent it to show them his amazing grace.
Jehovah-jireh. Our needs he’ll supply.
He sees everything from his throne so high.

And people still say it. They say it today.
“On the Lord’s mountain, he will make a way.”
When you feel stuck and there’s nowhere to hide,
It’s time to remember that God will provide.

He sees what you need, though you may not yet know.
He’s already working, and his plan will soon show.
So trust him, obey him, stay right by his side.
From his great mountain, God will provide.
