I wanted more zip, I wanted more go,
But my tank felt empty and moving was slow.
So I looked up above with a heart full of fear,
And said, “Lord, I need help. Please draw near.”
I fretted and stewed, and I worried a lot,
But fretting and stewing? They help me not.
What I already have is a pretty good start—
If I use it with wisdom and trust from the heart.
I don’t need to wait for some magical flash,
Or a lightning bolt hit or a rainstorm of cash.
God gave me this moment, this breath, this grace—
That’s enough fuel for the next part of this race.
I considered the problem I thought that I saw.
Might it be a mask for a much deeper flaw?
It wasn’t my body, my time, or my brain.
Could it be fear in disguise or an old hidden pain?
I prayed once again, not with words full of flair,
But with silence and stillness and honest despair.
God didn’t shout or appear high in the sky.
He just whispered, “Keep going. I’ll be walking nearby.”
I took one small step, just a teeny-tiny thing,
Not a leap, not a jump, not a victory ring.
But it sparked something new in my soul—
Like fire from Heaven was energy for his goal.
It turns out that action, however quite small,
Is better than waiting, doing nothing at all.
Momentum, I learned, is a curious friend.
It builds when you start, and it grows till the end.
Don’t wait for perfection. Don’t stall in your seat.
Don’t wait for your plan to be flawless and neat.
Just offer your five loaves and two fish of thought.
God does his best work with the little you’ve got.
Energy’s tricky. It rises and it dips.
It flows through your calling, not coffee sips.
When you follow the path that God has in mind,
His strength will sustain both your heart and your grind.
So pray when you’re tired, and rest when you must,
But never let doubt make you lose your trust.
For God is your source, your stamina too,
And he has enough to keep carrying you.
Keep stepping and writing and sowing in grace.
Even if slow, you’re still running the race.
Because even the smallest surrender and spark,
Can brighten the world with the light in your heart.
