I said I would do it. I meant it. Really.
I did get started, but then I got sleepy.
My will started strong—until something went wrong.
Then it vanished like bubbles that never last long.
I planned to eat healthy and go for a run,
But cookies and couches were much more fun.
I promised to pray and to read every day,
But somehow the time just slipped away.
My willpower’s wiggly, wobbly, and weak.
It can slip on paths too steep or too bleak.
I heard, “Where there’s will, there’s a way.”
But my will can be lost on just any day.
The Bible reminds me, I can’t make it alone,
My strength must come from the heavenly throne.
The verse starts by saying, “I can do much more,”
But then it says, “Christ is my strength to soar.”
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
The Lord’s will is what I most need to seek.
Truth doesn’t change just because I feel blue,
It stays firm and faithful to guide what I do.
The wise man will pray when the journey gets tough.
The weak man will quit when the smooth path turns rough.
But God gives me real power, not magic or might.
He gives me his presence, his peace, and his light.
If I want real strength for all to be done,
I need to align with the will of the Son.
Whenever my resolve starts to slip away,
I will lean on his strength to make my day.
