God made you to shine, so don’t dim your glow.
Don’t bury the spark that’s designed to show.
The world needs to see that God’s love is real,
So don’t hide your candle or cover your zeal.
A lamp in a basket won’t brighten the night.
It’s meant to stand tall and give off its light.
So stand on the hill where your glow can be seen,
And shine like the stars with a heart that is clean.
But why would you hide it? What would you gain?
To blend with the darkness? That seems quite insane.
If Jesus is in you, then don’t wear a mask.
Brightening the world is your God-given task.
Some hide their light just to fit with the crowd,
But light in the dark should be brave and loud.
If you walk with Jesus, then don’t be afraid.
He gives you the power for light to cascade.
A candle can light another candle with flame,
Soon many others will do just the same.
The glow will spread wide. What a delight,
To think it came from your own small light.
You need a power source. Lights don’t just stay on—
Like flowers reach up for the light of the dawn.
So stay plugged in to your heavenly source above,
With prayer and God’s Word and a heart full of love.
Don’t polish your glow with a fake little grin,
For true light must shine from the Spirit within.
The Pharisees tried to look holy and bright—
But Jesus saw through their pretending light.
Wipe off the dirt that dulls your bright beam.
Remove all the things that don’t let you gleam.
Be honest. Be kind. Be joyful. Be true.
Let God clean your lens so his light shines through.
So rise up and shine in the dark of the night.
Be salt to the earth and a beacon of light.
If your flame flickers, don’t worry or run.
Just get near the fire and find warmth in the Son.
