Week 4/4/25

Frank’s Random Thoughts for the Week

Keep what you like as your own. Discard the rest.

  • Perfection is having what we want when it is exactly what God wants.
  • Apart from God’s guidance, a choice between two actions gives me a 50-50 chance of being wrong, and I don’t like those odds.
  • The stupidity reached through artificial intelligence can be much worse than we think.
  • “Love” is a euphemism for something we don’t know how to define, because the fullness of its meaning can only be understood as our relationship with the Lord intensifies.
  • I’ve heard that cancer will kill you, but not as certainly as turning away from God.
  • Sometimes I need to remember what I know, so I go back and revisit God’s miracles so I can have the right anticipation for what lies ahead.
  • If we ever feel lost, we need God’s direction and his means to get there.
  • We deserve no credit for our strokes of genius, because we’re not smart enough to be that smart without God’s help.
  • I don’t know anything unless God helps me know, and even then, I need his help to be sure.
  • Before we can receive forgiveness for our sin, we must first recognize our wrong desires and repent, seeking not to be the person we have been.
  • We can always proceed with confidence when we know we have God’s help.
  • When free from the desires of our self-serving flesh, we are free to enjoy the great spiritual thrill of pleasing the Lord.
  • Good works in abundance give people reason to glorify God in Heaven.
  • Since seeing the truth can’t force us to believe, we must first choose to believe God so we can see his truth.
  • We should know that God will always give us strength to do what he wants.
  • People need church, fellowship, and devotions to be energized, but I most need to bask in God’s presence for a long while.
  • Failure to embrace God’s purpose in a temptation will make us victims instead of victors.
  • If we are as the Bible says, fearfully and wonderfully made, we’re not a copy of anybody else in the world but should love our uniqueness in Christ, made different for his unique purpose.
  • If we want to tell better stories, we need better mental pictures of what actually happened.
  • Wanting what God wants still requires patience to see how he will work through us to fulfill his purpose.
  • The great danger of health and wealth is forgetting our need for the Lord in all we say and do.
  • We need testing to reveal our spiritual strengths and weaknesses so we can fully surrender to God’s will for us.
  • The relevant truth often lies hidden behind the assumed truth, just waiting to be discovered.
  • If something isn’t working, we should at least recognize that we don’t yet understand how it will work.
  • I don’t try to understand others because I have yet to figure out myself.
  • The most important step toward hearing God better is to recognize that we aren’t hearing as well as we should.
