Worthless Weeds

Inspiring
In the six days of creation, God saw that all he had made was good, meaning “perfectly suited for his purpose.” In Jesus’ story about the wheat, the master wouldn’t allow the weeds to be pulled, because he didn’t want one valuable plant to be lost. In our serving the Lord and not just ourselves, we prove that we’re not worthless weeds.

Just as the weeds are bundled and burned, so will it be with people at the end of this age.
— Matthew 13:40

Ten Thoughts to Ponder

  1. To hear more from God, spend more time talking to him and asking questions.
  2. The best prayer people can offer others is asking God to be their GPS.
  3. The need for “prayer without ceasing” is to live under God’s constant guidance.
  4. I do well to follow God’s suggestions as well as his commands.
  5. If we follow God’s suggestions, we’ll have no trouble keeping his commandments.
  6. When the wrong doesn’t distract us, we are free to focus on everything right.
  7. If I can imagine God’s greatness, my mind has severely limited who he is.
  8. I want to be thankful for every contributing part of God’s plan for me, no matter how painful his design might be.
  9. Contrary to my limited perspective, with God I can move forward in all directions at the same time—like the explosion of the universe.
  10. The nature of being God’s disciple is to give up everything we have so we can have everything he has.
